Hey Michael, unfortunately this isn't possible with the automatic debt settle up. Closing for now, but I can investigate this in the future :)

Bradley Bernard Gotcha, is it just someway with how you're calculating the debts? I was curious if there was a way to look at what expenses are canceled out by an "auto debt settling" action, and then add those expesness to the venmo message!
Essentially, look at the diff between before auto debt settle, and after to find the expenses!

Michael Xu: The debts are essentially the sum of all your expenses IOUs. The problem about the diff is it'd be a massive computation to do: anyone can go in the expense history and edit an expense from 3 years ago to be +$1. So you can't really mark expenses as "paid" since they can change to unpaid anytime with edits from anyone.
I think w/o simplified debts it's "easier" to understand, but once simplified debts come into play, where debts are shuffled to reduce payments, it's very very hard to determine what is "paid" for.
I think this feature would be nice, and I had this for my v1 in June 2023, but after switching to this new debt model, it's much more challenging without deep thought or hard calculations. Hope this makes sense

Bradley Bernard Ah makes sense, appreciate the explanation!
Totally get the philosophy, and understand why you're making this decision, but I guess in my mind it's a tradeoff between complete accuracy, vs the Venmo message having some helpful identifiers to remind folks what they're getting charged for!
