parse differently formatted date

I know not all date formats can be reliably parsed, buuut..

When adding an expense, the date defaults to today "4/5/2024".

I triple click to select all and paste the date from my source document/app "2023-09-24", move focus to another field, and the date value changes back to "4/5/2024"
