Notify and automatically add invited friends to friends list

I just noticed that I have to manually finding and adding friends with their email ids despite all of them signing up using my invite link. I don't understand the purpose of the unique invite link. This feature is very much essential when motivating large number of friends to sign up on this site for trip or something.
