Changing debtor distribution
After entering all expenses and then using the "simplify debts" option I usually contact all people who get money and tell them who they get money from. I noticed that after coming back to this after some time the dstribution of the debtors often changed like Debtor A was distributed to Creditor X and then suddenly to Creditor Y.
Also settling up one debtor often causes to change the whole balance how the debt is distributed.
Is this a bug or am I not using the program as intended?

Hi Alexander Posch, this is how the debt simplification is designed. It will take the highest ower and match to highest owed, and go down the list. If someone settles up, the debts will shift and people will owe different folks. What's most important is the overall balances are correct, but the directionality of the debts does change after someone pays (or at least can). You can turn off Simplified debts if you don't like the behavior, but it is expected for this.

Hm, I understand… would there be a way to simplify the debts and then like "freeze" the distribution in place? Correct me if I am wrong but let's say all expanses have been made and no new ones will be added and then I activate simplify debts and if everyone would settle up at once just as it is displayed at that point, everyone would get their fair share, right?
So freezing the simplified distribution in place after all expanses have been made shouldn't harm the system, would it?
As a side note: I really like splitmyexpanses. Thx for creating such a good tool and not putting all necessary features behind a paywall like all the others do :)
