Additional Payment services and group integration

  • Ability to add new (and multiple) payment services particularly for QR code payments.

  • Preferably a public link from a photo hosting site (e.g. google photos) so the user hosts the file themselves

  • Ideally the user sets the name for the payment services instead of being forced to choose from possibly limited options.

  • This would then appear on another tab in the groups (i.e. ‘payment methods’) where others in the group can check how a particular person wants to be paid if they have multiple online banks with different QR codes for each.

  • The payment methods can be shown as a list set as a hyperlink (the name of the link is what the user set on the 3rd bullet point) pointing to the link they provided or alternatively have a preview function (hover or otherwise) for each payment method, if possible

  • Currency selection for each would be nice, in instances where the user has multiple banks across countries (and avoiding forex fees)

Hi @Ronnie , thanks for the detailed feedback. What payment methods are you exactly looking for, that is not offered in the list today? The reason the payment methods are explicitly defined, is to provide direct integration support: fetching profile info, deep linking into apps to do payments, etc.

With a custom payment service, it’s a bit harder to pull that off and can create some headaches. I hear your feedback though, it would be to configure this, but I need to be thoughtful about how to prioritize and design that user experience.

Hi, thanks for giving the time to reply on this. My thought process on this is that there are banks and digital banks that now offer payment using a user generated QR code to transfer money and thought it might be a good feature if there’s a way for people in the group to view that. Here in PH, transferring money is bank agnostic due to the use of a national QR code standard making transfers across banks seamless. Basically, you can generate a QR code on your preferred digital bank and friends can simply scan it using their preferred digital bank and transfer money (similar to Paypal’s QR payment, but you can only pay using a paypal account).

It’s not exactly a custom payment service, but more being able to view a QR code (or multiple) and make it easier to settle payments through QR without always asking them for it, especially in big groups.

I see I see, thanks for explaining that in detail! I think this is a bigger change, so let me sit on it for some time. I’ve not heard many folks as for this to be clear, but doesn’t mean it’s a bad idea!
